Cadet Course - Gear List

Here’s a streamlined packing list for a three-day Army Cadet activity camp. This list covers essential gear for a shorter duration while ensuring cadets are prepared for both field activities and personal comfort:

Clothing:

  1. Uniforms:

    • 1-2 sets of DPCU/AMCU camouflage uniforms

    • 1 pair of boots (well broken-in)

    • 3 pairs of socks (wool or synthetic)

    • 3 pairs of underwear

    • PT (Physical Training) uniform (T-shirt, shorts)

    • 1 jacket or jumper (fleece or warm layer for cold weather)

    • Wet weather gear (rain jacket and pants)

    • Wide-brimmed hat (bush hat)

  2. Casual Wear:

    • 1 set of civilian clothes for downtime (shirt, pants, etc.)

    • Casual shoes/sandals

  3. Sleepwear:

    • Lightweight, moisture-wicking sleepwear

Bedding and Shelter:

  1. Sleeping Bag (suitable for season/weather)

  2. Sleeping Mat or inflatable mattress

  3. Bivvy Bag or lightweight tent/shelter

  4. Groundsheet (for bivouac setup)

Toiletries:

  1. Soap (biodegradable, if possible)

  2. Toothbrush and toothpaste

  3. Deodorant (non-aerosol)

  4. Towel (quick-dry, travel towel)

  5. Sunscreen (high SPF)

  6. Lip balm (with SPF)

  7. Insect repellent (non-aerosol)

  8. Baby wipes (for quick field hygiene)

Field Equipment:

  1. Backpack (for carrying gear)

  2. Daypack (for short hikes or daily essentials)

  3. Water bottles or hydration system (Camelbak)

  4. Mess kit (bowl, plate, cup, knife, fork, spoon)

  5. Torch/Headlamp (with spare batteries)

  6. Notebook and pens (preferably waterproof)

  7. Small first aid kit (basic personal kit)

  8. Field knife or multitool (check regulations)

  9. Paracord or utility cord

  10. Compass (if required for the activities)

Personal Items:

  1. Medications (enough for the duration of the camp)

  2. Personal identification (ID card)

  3. Small amount of cash

  4. Mobile phone and charger (if allowed)

Footwear & Accessories:

  1. Boot polish and brush

  2. Socks (3 pairs)

  3. Flip-flops or sandals (for showers)

  4. Watch (durable, waterproof)

Other Essentials:

  1. Sunscreen and lip balm (with SPF)

  2. Insect repellent

  3. Sewing kit (optional, for uniform repair)

  4. Duct tape (small roll for repairs)
